The Adriatic Cafe Review

We had a lovely family lunch at the Adriatic Cafe this weekend. This wasn’t our first time eating there, but I felt like it would be fun to provide a review on my blog since I haven’t yet.

I know this review won’t be for everyone, but if you are looking for good Italian food in the Houston, Texas area then stick around! If you think you will ever be in the Houston area at any point, then you should stay too.. Please also feel free to read on if you are just passing time and would like to hear me review some yummy food, lol. If none of those fit your situation, then check out some of my other posts on the blog!

Appetizers:

They automatically bring out DELICIOUS garlic knots as their appetizers at no extra cost. There is also an option to add dipping sauces to the table for the garlic knots, but those will come out at a 5 dollar up charge. With a large group this might be a fun option, for me personally, I would pass on the sauces because the bread is very flavorful on its own.

Most of our meals included a salad as well for an additional appetizer. To call the salad a “salad” though is a loose interpretation and I just want you to be prepared. I don’t know what all I was expecting… but the “salad” was just a little lettuce, shredded carrots, and a slice of tomato and cucumber on a plate. I guess it would have felt more like a salad if it was at least in a bowl because it seemed very small and sad on the plate. To be included with the meal though, at the price point it was, was just fine. I did have to eat quite a few garlic knots to feel like I had consumed an authentic appetizer portion of food.

Entree:

I opted for the Pasta Sampler. Seeing that we went at lunch time the menu felt VERY affordable. My Pasta Sampler with the garlic knots and salad “included” was just 9 dollars. I did drink water so there was no additional cost there for me either. My husband got the Adriatic Special, not pictured, which was a spaghetti style pasta with a variety of meat and sauce.

My Pasta Sampler was filling enough for me. The portion size actually felt just right. The sampler included one large cheese ravioli, one cheese manicotti and beef lasagna. I am not a huge meat eater so this felt like a good balance of meat and cheese. I am a cheese lover though, if you don’t love cheese the way I do then I would probably not recommend this dish. The sauce was flavorful and while everything felt it blended together, I really enjoyed all 3 pieces.

Overall, I was very pleased with the price point and the amount of food we received!

Peach Points: 9/10

We didn’t indulge in a dessert on this trip so I can’t report about desserts, they do have a few different options though if that is something you want to add on!

It feels hard to get any meal for 9 dollars (minus tax and a tip of course) so I was impressed. We also had great service and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. We were able to hear each other well even across a large table which is surprising for most restaurants. We did notice they had padding under the chairs and tables, which seemed like a way of reducing noise. I honestly felt like this was super thoughtful and well planned, it did seem to help based on my previous restaurant experiences.

If you are in the Houston area and need a lunch or dinner location, I would highly recommend the Adriatic Cafe. We have never had a poor experience there and I think that speaks volumes for both the attentive staff and the food quality.

I’ve linked their menu from the website if you are interested in checking it out!
